Week 9- #23

Summary
Wooooohooooo, I am done!!

Okay, so my favorite exercises were probably the youtube exercise (because I was very familiar with this site already), and all the easy ones (the first ones, the image creator, etc.). I enjoyed doing this program and I am glad this was offered to us. What I didn't like was all the different things we had to signed up for. Most of the exercises were pretty simple but there were a few that were very confusing and annoying such as the bloglines, technorati, and del.icio.us . I would definitely participate in a another program (especially if more prizes are being offered!).

:-)

Week 9- #22

ebooks and audiobooks

I had previously explored some of the Sjlibrary's ebooks. From my experience, I found that they have mostly Non-Fiction and mostly self-help, careers, and other subjects like that. Like other people have already stated, I would prefer to read a "real" book than to sit in front of the computer for hours. It can be helpful to read an ebook when you're doing research for a school assignment so you can highlight and copy information onto a computer document. Overall, I liked this exercise.

Week 9- #21

Podcasts

I went to podcast.net and searched under comedy and browsed around a bit. I then typed in George Lopez as a keyword and found a podcast that I wanted to play. It actually didn't play from the computer at work. Here's the link though and I will try to play it later.

I have actually done a podcast before. I helped my brother make one for school and it was very cool.

I liked this exercise and will probably use it later to find more stuff.

Week 9- #20

YouTube

This was, by far, one of the easiest exercises. I am very familiar with youtube and I have used it quite a few times. You can find anything on there. Here's a video I have seen probably a thousand times because I can't get enough of it! lol "Scrubs" is my mostest favorite show and this is where this clip comes from.

I LOVE IT!

Week 8-#19

Library Thing

I took the "tour" on Library Thing and I signed-up for it. All they ask you for is a username and password; that's it! Then you add your books to your "bookshelf" and you can write a review or comments or whatever the heck you want on there. You can join groups and talk about the books. I haven't added any books yet but I will add a few later and see how it goes.

Ok, so I added some books and I tried creating a "widget" but for some reason, it does appear on my blog. Here's a
link to the page I created...hope it works.

Week 8- #18

Online Productivity Tools

Woohoo! I'm almost done! So close, how excinting! :-)

K, for this exercise I signed-up for the Zoho Writer thing. It seems that there are a lot of useful things you can do on there. I tried creating a document and the page was loading FOREVER and so I never actually got to create it. Actually, I checked right now and I do have a document there that I was able to upload. What you can do, is create a document (letter, paper, etc.) on Zoho Writer and you can then publish it to your blog or even webpage. It's pretty cool. They even have a Spreadsheet thing you can use. There's also this sort of "Power Point" thing you can use to create slideshow presentations, all from the same website! I liked this exercise!

:-)

Week 7- #17

SJ Learning 2.0 Sandbox wiki

Ok, so I signed-up for the SJ Learning 2.0 Sandbox wiki. I added my blog. I looked around and will be adding my 2 cents on a couple other "Favorites" pages.

Week 7- #16

Wikis

This exercise was about "wikis." The very popular site wikipedia is an example of a wiki. Many students try to use wikipedia as a resource when doing research on assignments. Using this site as a source is not accepted by most teachers/ professors because this site can have very inacurate information since mostly anyone can edit/ add information to the site. I only recently found out that you can do this. Honestly, I didn't know the truth about wikipedia since I was not familiar with wikis.

I liked this exercise.

Week 6- #15

Perspectives on Web 2.0

This exercise asked us to read a few of the perspectives on the Libraries and how they are changing and will continue to change in the future. Most of these, I found, are more useful for Librarians to read. I am not a librarian. What I got from reading these perspectives was that, just as anything else is required to adapt to technological changes, so are the libraries. Libraries need to keep up with the demand for more updated ways of learning. People will soon demand things such as podcasts, e-books, and various other items. I read:

Away from the “icebergs”,
Into a new world of librarianship, and To a temporary place in time....

life without music...

is just not worth living...

hehe a little cheezy but i just wanted to test this blog using flickr.

yeah

Week 6- #13

Tagging and discover del.icio.us

still working on it...

K, well call me old-fashioned but I like my current way or organizing my bookmarks. I use the Yahoo Bookmark tool. If I'm away from my computer then I can just go to MyYahoo and I can easily access whatever bookmarks I have saved. Maybe it's because I'm used to doing things a certain way or whatever it is; I like this way and I will keeping doing it this way.

Sooo, I don't like the del.icio.us thing either. Sorry.

Week 6- #14

Technorati

I went to the Technorati page and took a look around. To be honest, I don't really like reading other people's blogs unless I know them. I don't really care what people have to say (most of the time)...unless I'm doing research on something...Anyway, I can see how it would be useful for people to look up blogs by using this page. I can see the benefit, but frankly, I dont think I will be using it.

Week 5- #12

Rollyo

I explored Rollyo and I was not very impressed at first. I didn't see what could be so great about this site. As I continued to browse around, I realized what the purpose of searching here is. When you search for something on a typical browser, it gives you a gazillion hits on what might or might not give you what you are looking for. When you search on Rollyo, you can choose a specific subject on where you want your answers to come from. There was one Ask Mr. Fix It! that caught my attention. I think I will be using this one when I'm looking for a tip on repairs around the house.

I did register but am still wondering on which links might be helpful to others.

Week 5- #11

Web 2.0 Awards list sites

So for this exercise we were suppose to explore some websites from the Web 2.0 Awards List. I wasn't sure what to search for so I just started clicking around and see what would catch my attention. I went to Lists and Polls out of curiousity and the site that I liked the best was quimble.com. At this site you can post any question that you'd like and see what people have to say about it. Very simple. So if there's something that you have been wondering about, just register and ask away.

Week 5- #10

Image Generator

This is my creation from txt2pic.com. I went to License Plate Maker but there are a bunch of other things you can do there. There are some really neat things you can make such as Logos, Signs,Tarot Cards, etc. You should all check it out.
I enjoyed doing this exercise.

Week 4- #8 and #9

RSS Feeds, Bloglines, Library Blogs

Okay so I was little confused (and still am) on this exercise. I subscribed to the bloglines and some of the feeds I signed up for are Dictionary.com Word of the Day, NYT Book Review, Rolling Stone: Music News, Rotten Tomatoes: Movies, and VH1's Today In Music. I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

Week 3- #7

Anything Technology Related

I want an iPod!!! I currently have this phone , which actually plays music but in a wma format so I can't fit that many songs on the memory card. My sister got an iPod for Christmas and I am so jealous! We went shopping for an adapter which allows her to listen to her iPod music in her car (through the radio). That made me want it even more! Now I know what I will be using my tax refund for hehe

This is the one that I want. Blue, cause it's close to teal. Teal, cause of the SHARKS!

Week 3- #6

Flickr and Mashups

Hmm, I never realized there were all these sites out there that we can use to get creative with our pix. I definitely wanna play around with a few of them. The mosaic maker, the movie poster maker, and the photo collage site seem very cool. Now all I need is cool pix to play around with :-)

Week 3- #5

Flickr

Plaza de Zamora Michoacan

This is a picture I found on Flickr. It's the "Plaza de Zamora" in Michoacan, Mexico. I have family there who I miss very much and can't wait to visit (hopefully this Summer). There were many different pictures that I found on the site. I've always loved photography and seeing all these beautiful images make me want to go out and take random pics and see what I can come up with.

I used a different site to upload the picture...something I'm more familiar with.

Hello all!--Week 1, 2, 3 & 4

Well, here it is. My first blog here. I've actually posted a few blogs on different places. I'm a little ashamed to say that I am a myspace addict...but really, who isn't this days?

I finished listening to the Lifelong Learning Pointers and I suppose I learned a thing or two.

That's all for now.
